Description: The Lighthouse Inn is a first class hotel located in a pleasant neighborhood on the south shore of New London, Connecticut. Situated 10 miles from Groton New London Airport, this Mediterranean style mansion is an American Classic. In 1902 steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers, which surrounded it. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York, designed the 4.5 acre grounds. Meadow Court became a focal point for society events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
Since 1928, this magnificent estate has been home to the Lighthouse Inn. The Inn has completed a $1 million dollar renovation to all guestrooms and public space. Completely restored, the Inn has earned wide acclaim for perpetuating the opulence of a landmark mansion.
